Lift Pass Info
![]() Its our intention here to give you a brief summary of some of the lift pass options available hoping that you may find it helpful! For full information on lift passes, prices, package combo's and conditions, check out the website for each of the ski areas. There are a lot of options. Lift passes do not need to be pre-purchased so you are fine to wait to decide which option is best for you until you arrive in town. CHILDREN:- Children (or Youth) age is 6yrs to 17yrs. Kids 6 years and under ski for free. DAY PASSES:- Generally speaking, the most cost effective way to purchase lift passes is to buy a multi day pass. This season NZSKI multiday passes from 3 days (and more) allow 2 days grace e.g. ski 5 out of 7 days or 6 out of 8 days. A 2 day pass can be used over 3 calendar days. Cardrona Alpine Resort also offers a 3, 5 or 10 Time Anytime pass as well as a 4 out of 6 Multi day pass. This season Treble Cone an Off Peak day pass from September 15th until 5 October as well as a Family Pass for 2 adults and 2 children and also has 4, 5 or 10 day Any Time passes. Obviously conditions apply, so check out the ski area websites for full information. Seniors 70+ at Treble Cone, and 75+ at Remarks/CP and Cardrona get to ski for free. BEGINNER PASSES:- All of the Southern Lakes ski areas offer a special package for first time skiers or boarders. This is definitely the best value deal around as it includes equipment rental, two lessons (except at TC where there is only one), and the appropriate lift pass. This package is a great way to get into snow sports as you start having fun right from the beginning with a group of people in the same boat as yourself, you learn faster by not having to learn by your mistakes and it's by far the best deal price-wise. We can provide the rental equipment component and sell you this package for either Coronet, Remarkables and Cardrona (yet to be confirmed for 08!). Each of the ski areas (except Cardrona) also offer a Beginner Lift pass. This beginner pass generally gives you access to the surface lifts e.g. rope tows and magic carpets, but excludes chair lifts. Naturally this is significantly cheaper than a full lift pass - but no need to pay for the full pass if you are not going to use it right from the beginning. TOUR OPERATORS:- Package tour operators offer various options for consecutive day passes as well as vouchers for single day passes. Be sure to let your tour operator know if you don't want to ski or ride everyday consecutively so they can be sure to give you the right vouchers. Also be aware that if you have for example 3 vouchers which you hand in together at the ski area ticket office, you will generally get a 3 day multi day pass in return. If you don't want to ski or ride consecutive days, exchange the vouchers individually for day passes as you want them. Some tour operators such as Ski Express offer a Ski & Activity pass which can be exchanged either for day passes, a list of excursions around town or shopping vouchers for 'off the hill' fun. Ski & Activity vouchers can be redeemed at our Browns Retail store. NZSKI SUPERPASS:- These are coupons which you purchase from NZSKI.com and can cash in for either day passes at Coronet Peak, Remarkables or Mt Hutt or for a range of specificed downtown activities. Often there is an additional upgrade cost for the activities offered. This is a more expensive way of purchasing day passes than the multi day rates, however it gives you more flexibility to take time off the snow and participate in other activities which are at least partially pre-paid. You can exchange one adult coupon at our Browns Retail Store for a value of $55, child coupon for $30. MOUNTAIN TRANSPORT LIFT PASS & BUS RIDE COMBO's:- This season combo transport and lift ticket passes for Coronet Peak and Remarkables will no longer be available. Ski Shuttle timetables and pricing is still be finalised. Children up to and including 4 yrs travel free, 5yrs to 17yrs are at a child rate. We expect that lift and bus combo tickets will still be available to Cardrona, but this has not yet been finalised. |
